CZ grade 3 Interzones team
On the weekend of May 6&7, The PCV grade 1&2 HT Champs and the Interzones Teams HT for grades 3&4 were both held at the PCVEC at Gladysdale.
For the Interzones, Central Zone entered a grade 3 team and two grade 4 teams.
After a bit of last minute shuffling, the grade 3 team, known as the Central champs, consisted of Lauren Cocks from Riddells Creek, Emma Fanning from Glenlyon, Jessica Harvey from Riddells Creek and L’Mosa Velisha from Werribee.
The girls placed 5th in a competitive field. But Gladysdale is a long way from home so some families left early. Jessica and L’Mosa stayed to represent the team and Central Zone.
The grade 4 teams were:
Central Cruisers, Chloe Ellis from Broadford, Maddi Gretton from Riddells Creek and Maddie Kristic from Bullengarook,; they just missed out on ribbons, placing 7th
Central Cannons, Stella Eales from Riddells Creek, Hugo Fanning from Glenlyon, Sienna Haigh from Broadford and Marnie Jackson from Bullengarook.
For the PCV HT champs for grades 1&2 Central Zone was represented by 3 riders.
J’Aimee Mallon from Macedon was in grade 1 riding Sahaptin Chiefs Gold. (Editor's note: the photo of J'Aimee won't load here but can be seen in the last row of the gallery. Sorry J'Aimee.)
Maddi Gretton from Riddells Creek was in grade 2 riding Wondaree After the Storm. Maddi had a busy weekend, also riding in the grade 4 Central Cruisers.
Phillipa Rushford from Williamstown was in grade 2 riding Little Man Delago.
Although not in the placings, all 3 girls rode clear XC and we were proud to have them
represent Central Zone.
The riders also welcomed to the CZ camp Mel Burns, a past CZ member, who entered the Open.
Central Zone and the team families owe many thanks to Yvette Gretton, who was the CZ Coordinator. Yvette spent many hours organising entries, uniforms and saddle blankets, and the volunteer roster, as well as supporting her daughter in riding 2 horses. The state organising committee had difficulty coordinating the volunteer roster and Yvette stepped in to fill places allocated to CZ. Many thanks also to those parents who willingly helped out in their allocated duties.
Look in the gallery below for some photos of individual riders. They are at the bottom of the photos from the event from other zones, as we share the website facility.
