Riddells Creek winners of the 2017 Lowden Family Shield
Congratulations to Riddells Creek PC, winners of the 2017 Lowden Family Shield for the third year in a row.
Gisborne PC were runners up, with Bullengarook third.
The shield for the club with the best average score went to Melton PC, represented by Leilani and Hayley. Olivia won the AV Penna trophy for being the highpoint winner in the show rings.
At the Central Zone gymkhana, riders compete in the show ring and at games, so it is an ungraded event, with classes for all riders, even those still on lead rein. Here are some happy riders from ring 1, for 3 to 8 years old.
It was a long day for little people (and little ponies) but some still managed to raise a smile in the last class of the day.
The pairs and teams of three were great classes for gaining points for the club.
Pairs and teams of 3 line up in ring 2.
Some more teams of 3 .
This year we tried to make competing in the games easier for riders to fit in with their showing classes. It seemed to be a better timetable and could be further improved with better consultation with the judges.
The youngest riders especially enjoyed the games.
We owe especial thanks to Ronnie Graham for setting up the lanes on Saturday and supervising the competition all Sunday. Also many thanks to the parents who helped out with the stewarding and timing, whether or not they were on the roster. A day like this cannot run without the help of many parents. We are all there just for the kids and it is great to see the parents pitching in.
finally, a big thank you to Sunbury PC for providing a great venue. Members set up the rings on Saturday and the canteen on sunday was much appreciated.
